It’s common for women to experience lower back pain while pregnant. According to the American Pregnancy Association, 50-70% of pregnant women experience lower back pain at some point so if you have it, you’re not alone.
Back pain aside, the physical stress of pregnancy can lead to a great deal of discomfort. Chiropractic can not only help you manage your pain during pregnancy but it can help make labor less painful as well.
During pregnancy, a women’s body is undergoing many changes to accommodate the growing baby. Weight gain, along with a shifting center of gravity can result in added stress and discomfort in the lower back, pelvis, and hips.
Back pain generally peaks around the third trimester when the baby is growing the most. If you have a history of lower back problems, pregnancy can certainly aggravate the condition. Hormones and increased pressure in the pelvis can contribute to swelling in the feet and ankles. Other symptoms that stress on the lower back can trigger include leg cramps, abdominal cramping, constipation, and much more.
At Frederick Chiropractic Wellness Center we provide personalized care throughout your pregnancy, as well as help you recover after!
