At Frederick Chiropractic Wellness Center, one of the more common chiropractic conditions we see and treat here in our office is that of a disc disorder, commonly referred to as herniated discs, bulging discs, or degenerative disc disease. If you or a loved one are suffering from disc problems, we are here to help!
One of the more common types of disc disorder our patients suffer from is that of degenerative disc disease. This means that the discs in your spinal column are showing signs of wear and tear. This may be due to old injuries, repetitive stress and strain, or weakness or the muscles supporting the spine.
Herniated, slipped, and bulging discs are very common, and in reality, many people with disc degeneration showing up on MRI have few symptoms! However, if the herniation is severe enough, and there is inflammation or other injuries to the joints and muscles supporting the spine, the discs may become problematic.
If you experience any signs of a disc problem, including a persistent back or neck ache, we encourage you to seek chiropractic evaluation and treatment. Specifically, our team can provide you with a thorough evaluation of your symptoms and spinal health (including any necessary diagnostics) to make an accurate diagnosis. From there, we can begin to formulate a customized treatment plan to provide you with gentle and non-invasive pain relief.
Specific treatments will vary based on your specific needs, lifestyle, and disc disorder. However, for most disc disorders such as degenerative disc disease and herniated, bulging, or slipped discs, we will recommend some form of spinal adjustment/manipulation as part of your treatment.
Adjustments help to correct alignment problems along the spinal column and improve the mobility and stability problems that lead to slipped and damaged discs in the first place. For those with herniated or bulging discs resulting in pinched or inflamed nerves, this treatment can help restore the proper positioning of discs and relieve the pressure on nearby nerve endings. Disc problems often respond very well with proper care and rehabilitation!
In addition to spinal adjustments, we also recommend one or more of the following treatments for disc disorders:

I found Dr. Morrone to be very pleasant and I find her approach refreshing. Other chiropractors I have visited basically give you an adjustment without discussing the neurological connections. Looking forward to working with her and also to see how she may be able to help my daughter.
